In the early 1970s, senior personnel from Seaway Heavy Lifting Engineering B.V. were involved in the first offshore installation projects in the North Sea.

In 1992, this expertise and experience was combined with a powerful crane vessel, and the offshore contractor Seaway Heavy Lifting (SHL) was established.
